NSF officials come to Black Hills

The Homestake Mine is already the pick of the National Science Foundation as the site for a national underground laboratory. Now, the push is on to fund the lab... Representatives of the N-S-F were in the Black Hills Thursday, with a pair of meetings on the agenda, one at South Dakota Tech and one in Lead. N-S-F assistant Director Dr. Tony Chan talked about what's next in the process... South Dakota Representative Stephanie Herseth Sandlin and Senator John Thune were also at the meetings Thursday. Both say they'll do their best to get the money through. A statement was read from Senator Tim Johnson ... saying he hopes his seats on the Senate budget and appropriations committees will play a key role in the task.
